As not all of these people share a religion (or any one of mine), this is more of a nondenominational memorial to non-blood ancestors. It goes without saying that each of these individuals are their own person, with their own flaws and mistakes. I don't endorse everything they did, but these people are particularly inspirational to me.

Stormé DeLarverie is a mixed race Black butch activist who was present at the Stonewall Riot. Some claim she was the first person there to throw a brick.

Silvia Rivera is one of the most well known trans activists who was present at the Stonewall Riot. She worked with Marsha P. Johnson to create Street Action Revolutionaries (see below).
Her powerful speech at pride in 1973 is worth a view.

Marsha P. Johnson worked with Silvia Rivera to create Street Action Revolutionaries, an organization aimed at helping drag queens, trans women, and gay youth on the streets of New York.

Lou Sullivan is a trans activist who passed of AIDS. He fought hard for acceptance of gay trans men.

David Wojnarowicz is a gay artist, famous for making work about the AIDS epidemic. He created and wore a jacket emblazoned with the words "If I die of AIDS - forget burial - just drop my body on the steps of the F.D.A."

Yuri Kochiyama is a Japanese-American civil rights activist and advocate for political prisoners. She was deeply involved in civil rights activism for Black and Puerto Rican communities, and was friends with Malcolm X.
