Favorite Horror Media

I am a huge fan of horror movies and games. I watch all of them, from psychological to slasher. Here are some of my favorites.

Games

When I was younger, I watched YouTubers (who I now disavow for various reasons) play Rule of Rose and the like. I've played many RPG Maker horror games like Witch's House, Ib, and so on. I own Corpse Party but haven't played it yet. Home Safety Hotline is visually perfect for the Old Web enthusiast, and very fun (but short). I looooove Amnesia. I also really like The Forest and its sequel Sons of the Forest, but both have a serious issue of primitivism and leaning into anti-Indigenous stereotypes and tropes.

Dead By Daylight

I usually play Survivor with my boyfriend, though I play as Killer too. I like ship art of the survivors in general, but my favorite ship is probably Dwight and Jake. My favorite OC from within the survivors is probably Dwight. I love Dwight. He's so pathetic. As far as licensed characters, Leon and Ash are my favorites. Can you tell I love men?

I am Adept at:

  • Leon S. Kennedy
  • Laurie Strode
  • Kate Denson
  • Nea Karlsson
  • Dwight Fairfield
  • Vittorio Toscano
  • Ashley Joanna Williams (my babygirl, my sweetcheeks etc.)
  • Mikaela Reid
  • Meg Thomas
  • Ace Visconti
  • Jake Park
  • Gabriel Soma
  • Felix Richter
  • William "Bill" Overbeck
  • Feng Min
  • David King
  • Zarina Kassir
  • Jane Romero
  • Adam Francis
  • Yoichi Asakawa
  • Ada Wong
  • Yui Kimura
  • Sable Ward
  • Jeff Johansen
  • Orela Rose

Real-Life

I also am very interested in the generally dark and macabre in real life. I think "true crime" as a genre is generally unethical, but I also don't believe in denying the depths of cruelty which humans can get to, both in terms of general historic interest and also for the sake of prevention. I absolutely abhor self-described true crime fans, though I know this is somewhat hypocritical as I watch some of the same videos. Usually, though, I am frustrated with the lack of materialist analysis and bootlicking that happens in those videos.

Museums

I highly recommend these.
  • The Mutter Museum (Philadelphia, PA)
  • Morbid Anatomy Museum (New York, NY)
  • The Museum of Death (Los Angeles, CA)
  • 怪しい少年少女博物館 - The Museum of Suspicious Boys and Girls (Hakone, Japan): A bit more artsy and significantly less gruesome than the others I listed.

Paintings

Some gruesome paintings I like.
