Naturalism

Why Naturalism?

I think it's good to be more knowledgable about your surroundings. It's nice to notice small changes in nature, and be able to help when necessary. I find it important both for me politically as well as spiritually. If you want to identify things on the go, I recommend bookmarking any of the guides and database links, but app wise iNaturalist and Merlin Bird ID are hard to beat. iNaturalist is pretty comprehensive and has a good community that can help you identify pretty much anything. Merlin analyses audio recordings to identify birds!

A note on herbalism: while I am personally fascinated by it, I don't think I really endorse it beyond very limited applications like drinking mint tea if you're having stomach issues. Modern medicine is an improvement on herbalism and it does much better. I know a lot of witches and witchy types like herbalism.

Found an injured or orphaned wild animal? Check Animal Help Now for help. If you find a bird and it's a fledgling, it is not orphaned! They're being closely watched by their parents from a distance.
